My First French!

Hey,

Remember when I posted the China Glaze Crackle entry? I wanted those to last all week until my test. I couldn't have failed more at that. While I was studying I somehow had the urge to peel off the polish! I was doing it kind of subconsciously and I tried to stop but I would keep catching myself doing it. So after a few days of re-doing them, I decided to take it off and try something new. My french tip guides came in the mail and I was planning on saving them for the first mani after my test but it was Thursday already and I was told that I should relax and not study the day before the MCAT.  I half listened to that advice and studied until noon and then did my nails after lunch. I wanted to try out Sally Hanson - Pacific Blue, so I guess this is my first official swatch too.
Sorry my camera isn't that great. The color is pretty accurate though. I've wanted a pretty blue for a while and when I saw this one I fell in love. It's so creamy and beautiful!!! It went on really well and I didn't have any trouble. For once it's not even messy around my cuticles! I was going to keep my nails as is but I just couldn't leave them plain so I tested out the tip guides.

I used Revlon - Metallic and m57 for this one.

The first picture is color accurate but I thought it came out clearer with the flash on.
I really liked how they came out and they looked especially pretty after a coat of Seche Vite
My mom didn't like the leopard print on the tips. She said it looked like it was peeling off.

I'm going to Alexandria, Virginia tomorrow ans I'll be in the DC area until Saturday. Does anyone know any good nail polish supply stores or anything fun to do while I'm there?

StyledOn Facebook Contest

Hey everyone,

I entered the StyledOn nail contest on facebook a few weeks ago. I would really appreciate some voting love : )
http://apps.facebook.com/contestshq/contests/136417/voteable_entries/26242890 You can vote every day! Sadly I wont even be able to vote everyday because I'll be on vacation so I can use all the help I can get. These were the nails I submitted. You may remember them from an earlier post.

Thanks! And let me know in the comments if you entered too so anyone who reads this blog can vote for yours as well.

SHARK WEEK!

I want to start off by apologizing for the lack of posts. I took my MCAT on Friday morning and I was planning on posting when I got home but I had to go out and enjoy my summer :). I have 3 weeks until I go back to school and I get to spend them NOT STUDYING! I've already gone to a party, gone to the city, read most of an amazing book (Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua). I have done my nails a bunch over the past week or so but I haven't been posting them so I'll have to get to them eventually.

Yesterday marked the official beginning of shark week! For those of you who are unfamiliar, shark week is when Nat Geo Wild (I think that's the channels name) has a week long marathon of shark shows. I just watched a cool one where they gave a shark an MRI, my favorite has to be the ones when they try to film sharks jumping in the air to catch a seal. Anyway, I decided to do my first fully free-handed nail art. They aren't amazing but I can only get better from here. Plus my nail brushes still haven't come in the mail yet so I had to use a toothpick. I did buy a brush in China Town today for $1 though so I now have one.

Without further ado,

The thumb is a hammer head shark :D and I got super lazy when I got to the pinky haha
Later in life I will hopefully look back at these nails and say to myself "wow I've gotten much better since then" : )

Hopefully I'll post some more tomorrow because I'm leaving for vacation on Wednesday morning and I won't be back until late Saturday Night. Maybe I'll figure out how to schedule posts or something.

China Glaze Crackle!!!

Today I received the giveaway that I won from konadaddict!!! omg they're sooo pretty :D
These are my first crackles and they are also my first china glaze!!!! I had to try them out right away of course.

I put black base coat on my left hand and white base on my right.

I love them all! The purple didn't crack as well as the rest of them but I might have just put it on too thick.
These pictures were from before I put a top coat on because it was still cracking and I had to get back to studying, which I should probably get back to doing. . . .

On Wednesday We Wear Pink

Hey this is a quick post because I've been studying like crazy. I was trying to get this up before Thursday rolls around, I guess we'll see. These were my nails. They aren't that pink but I'm going to do some cooler stuff eventually.
I used the essie polish in the picture as the base color, Revlon - Orchid and Budding Chrome as the stamping color with BM205 I think.
I also did the Monday glitterbomb challenge but I forgot to take a picture -_- . . . It wasn't that good anyway
Oops it's Thursday, Oh well I tried.
I got nail mail today! Unfortunately I wasn't home so they're going to bring it back tomorrow :(
My MCAT is officially in 8 days so  I might not end up posting  for a while unless my nail mail was something super exciting.

Should I buy this on ebay???

Hey girls!
I was just browsing ebay (at 2:30AM) and I saw a few things that I'm thinking about getting but I need some advice. Has anyone bought those 2 way nail art pens? I watched some reviews on youtube where people said they like them but they ship really messy but that doesn't really help that much. Do they draw well? Do they run? do the colors come our opaque? I know $10.50 isn't a lot of money but if anyone has bought them some feedback would be awesome. These are them.

Also, I was looking at other things that this seller has and I came across these. WOW $10 for 20 plates?? that seems like an amazing price. Has anyone bought these? Are they any good?

My first attempt at free-handing!

Hello!
It's been a while since my last post but I had the same nail polish on for a few days and I decided to try something new today. I saw this mani on http://kawaiinailart.blogspot.com/ and I knew I had to try it out. Hers are much better than mine but this is my first attempt at free-handing something more than a dot or a heart so maybe i'll get that good in the future. I still don't have any brushes or anything so I used a toothpick.
I broke my pinky nail right before I did this but I didn't want to make all my nails short so it looks a bit awkward.
Milani - the gold holo - base color
Revlon - Espresso - m57
Revlon -Cupid - darker pink
Revlon -Pink Chiffon - lighter pink
Revlon - Emerald - green leaves

My whole family hated this mani. I agree that it's a little busy but I like it a lot.
The gold holo alone was sooo pretty but after I layered on all the other stuff you could hardly tell it was a holo.

This is the polish I was wearing the whole week.
It's the silver Milani holo and Sally Hanson - Black Out. I used BM208. Almost everyone who saw my nails this week thought it was a crackle polish. A holo crackle would be awesome though.

OMG I actually won a giveaway!

So today I woke up to emails from konad addict (konadnail.blogspot.com) saying I won her china glaze crackle giveaway!!! I thought it was practically impossible for me to win a giveaway but apparently I had some good luck. I would post a picture but I'm on my iPad and I don't really know how to on here.

This is especially exciting for me because I'm pretty much broke and was begging my parents to buy me the black Sally Hanson crackle from CVS for the past two months because I don't own any crackles. I also don't own any china glaze yet so I'm super excited! I couldn't have won a better give away! Thank you so much Konad Addict!

I have a few nail updates to do but I'm in the middle of taking a full length MCAT on my computer so I just have my iPad and my 10 minute break to do this post so I'll post some nails later or tomorrow.

I am not stupid!

Hey! Welcome all of my new followers :D. This is my second post today but I finally finished that 5 hour long practice test and now I'm ready to share my fabulous finds and interesting story.
These polishes look kind of familiar right? They look almost exactly like Kleancolor bottles. Are these bootleg polish? Probably, but they work very well and they were only $1 each! They probably had over 100 colors and they were set up so well so I could see every color. I would have bought more but I ran into a little problem. I bought the 2 colors on the right last week just to try out the formula to see if I wanted to buy more. I went back expecting to buy at least 5-10 more but the lady selling them was horribly mean :(. I started talking to her about the polishes and how I already bought a few and loved them . When she was answering me back she ended her sentences with the word "pabo" or "바보" which I knew meant stupid in Korean! I took a 6 credit Korean class during last summer session and got an A, I guess she wasn't expecting that. I was so offended and I didn't know what to say so I just walked away. My mom was with me and asked me what was wrong and then she went back and yelled at the lady for calling me stupid in Korean. I hope she'll think twice before assuming nobody speaks Korean next time. I just went a few isles down and bought the polish from somebody else.
If anyone owns any kleancolor, let me know if these colors have the same names or anything.
Neon Aqua,  TLC, Twinkly Love, and Teal Envy
I also found these from some other  stand for $1 each! I was super excited about the essie because those are over $8 at CVS. They also has a red and a beige but I have so many reds and beiges that my mom gave me so it wasn't worth getting.
These holos are from CVS. I got $3 extra bucks when I spent $10 so these ended up being about $4 each. They have been my most expensive polish purchase so far, which isn't terrible. I'm trying to only buy the when they are really cheap so I don't empty my entire bank account.
And lastly I bought this for $2 at CVS. Has anyone tried the confetti polishes? They have so many colors and they are so cheap!
I hope you enjoyed my purchases and my story.

A few more manicures . . .

So I haven't posted in a while and I wasn't really planning on posting today but I was studying and my dad decided to take a nap in the room I was in. I gave up on trying to focus over the sound of him snoring so I decided to do a post.  There are 18 days until my MCAT by the way. I'm kind of freaking out a bit.
Anyway ...

These are some of the manis that I've done from July 4th on. I keep forgetting to take a picture the day I do it so some of them  are a bit chipped I think.

This is my July 4th mani. I was wearing blue and white so my nails were red. I used Revlon- Fire and I don't really remember what the stamped color was but it was a grey/blue. BM221

This is the mani I wore to Splish Splash a few days later. I wanted to match the yellow in my bathing suit. I used the same red as the July 4th mani because it was so easy to apply unlike some of my other polishes. I don't usually like using red but I guess I like the formula a lot. I used Revlon - Electric and Revlon - Fire
BM221

I wanted to do something kind of childish with these nails so I used Revlon - Bubble and Revlon - Cupid for the base/stamp then I used Revlon - metallic for the silver hearts on my ring fingers. They were done free hand and I think they came out pretty cute. I used a dull pencil tip to shape them. I used Y.B. Color - Twinkly Love for the glitter hearts (Ill talk about it in my next post or at the end of this one). And finally, I used Confetti - Party Palace Blue  for the other sparkles.  At first I hated the manicure and regretted putting the hearts on. But it grew on me over the course of the day. BM201

Lastly, This is the mani that I've been wearing for the past few days. It alternated 2 different patterns on BM224. The base is Revlon - Sheer Cotton, the stamping color is Sally Hanson - Black Out, and the yellow dots are Revlon - Electric. I used a dull pencil to apply the yellow. It seems like that pencil is my go to make shift nail tool. Other people liked this mani way more than I did. I like brighter colors. One thing that I thought was kind of strange is that some of the nails formed little bubbles in the base color. they definitely weren't there when I did them.

That's enough for now. I'll post about my recent nail polish finds later. And I also have an interesting story about my trip to the flea market that I'll talk about in my next post.

Summer update & more nail fun

I have been really busy lately so I haven't been keeping up with the blog. I have been studying a bunch and I actually made it to the beach on Monday! I was hoping I would find a day to go to the beach and Monday was perfect. The weather was beautiful and the water was pretty warm. My back got a bit burned but the rest of me is finally tan!!
Anyway, since my only followers are nail bloggers:

These are the nails I wore for my friend Carly's 21st birthday. I wore a purple, black and silver sequin dress so these nails matched very well.  I used Revlon - Violet and Revlon - Budding Chrome  BM209 and BM208. Sorry my camera sucks. There really isn't anything I can do about that. It looked like floral lace.

These are my friend Deanna's nails. She loved my nails so I told her to come over and I'll do hers. This is the first time I painted anyone's nails other then my own and I think it came out well. I used Revlon - Electric and Sally Hanson - Black Out and m57
These nails were inspired by this awesome 1.4 million dollar dress that I found while browsing the internet http://www.doobybrain.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/peacock-feather-wedding-dress.jpg I went to six flags yesterday and got a bunch of complements on them by ladies on the line.  I used 3 coats of Sally Hanson - Hi-Def as the base and Revlon - Espresso as the stamping color with BM212 and then the dots were with Revlon - Ocean Breeze  I used a dull pencil to apply the dots since I don't have any tools.

This has been the hardest stamp to work with so far because it didn't pick up onto the stamp most of the time and I had to clean the plate between each nail. I think it's just not as deep and the other designs.

Even though it was a bit messy I got a million complements and some girl even thought they were nail stickers.
Well I guess it's time to get back to studying. Story of my life.

My first leopard print nails!

Hey all 2 of my followers! I've been dying to try out leopard print but my zebra print was too pretty to get rid of. I've gotten lots of complements and a lot of people want me to do their nails!

So this morning I did a hot pink/ chrome leopard print that I sported to the library. I wish I was doing something more exciting with them but I'll leave that for Saturday night. I wish I had my new plates :(
Oh, I did order a new plate today! The free one from Bornprettystore.com. I haven't used that site before but if the plate comes without a problem I would definitely order from them again. FREE SHIPPING! : )

I used:

Revlon - Raspberry Rapture (Scented ^.^)
Revlon - Budding Chrome
M57
It came out pretty good but I've been having one problem that I don't know hot to fix without buying tools. How do I clean up the polish outside of my nail? I use a Q-tip which gets pretty close but it still looks a bit messy.

Ok, back to studying!

NAIL MAIL!

I told myself that this wouldn't turn into a nail blog but I'm sure that if anybody was to read this they wouldn't be interested in hearing about my MCAT studies or my effort at INSANITY so I think it's mostly going to be about the crafty things I do.

So tomorrow is my roomie's 21st birthday so she's having a birthday dinner at some restaurant in the city. I was going to re-do the pink marble to match the dress I'll be wearing but my stamper and konad plate, m57, came in the mail today so I couldn't resist trying it out.
I took pics on my camera but for some reason my phone takes better pictures. Droid X > Canon PowerShot. You can't really tell by the pic but the pink is shimmery and kind of chrome-ish.
Sally Hanson - White On
Revlon - Orchid
Konad  M57

I't was kind of hard to do my thumbs. They should make the images on the plates a bit bigger. But I have great news! my mom thought my nails were awesome so I asked her if they were awesome enough for her to buy me some plates. Apparently they are : ) yayyyyy!!!

nails nails nails!

While eating dinner tonight, my mom pointed out that I get a new hobby every time I come home from school. I use to stencil T-shirts then I made friendship bracelets then feather earrings and now it's nails. I was just stumbling around the internet then looking at blogs and I found this wonderful blog rebeccalikesnails. I thought it was AMAZING and it became the first blog that I followed on this new blog. I was never really good at painting my nails so I've been eying those Sally Hanson  press on things I keep seeing in CVS but that blog inspired me to try new things. I immediately went on amazon and bought a stamper, scraper, and the M57 plate. I found them for a bit less than $10 including shipping. They should be coming some time next week so I'm sooooooo excited to try them out. I was impatient so I decided to try the coolest thing I could find that I could do with equipment I have at home: water marbled nails!! CHECK IT OUT!

I think they're pretty awesome and I'm really pleased with the way it came out considering this is my first time doing anything to my nails other then a plain coat of color.
I took a bunch of pics because the lighting sucks in my room so I didn't know the best angle to take them.
I just thought this looked funny so I took a pic before I took the tape off.

So now I'm addicted. If anyone cares, the colors I used were Revlon Sheer Cotton, Cupid, and Bubble. I only have Revlon nail polish for now and probably for a while because I'm pretty broke and I don't have a job.

I can't wait until I get my plate so I can try stamping!!! I wish I could find them for cheaper so I can buy more plates. Oh well, for now I'll just have some awesome marbled nails :{)

Productivity

I must admit that I get a lot less done then I want most of the time. Today was not one of those days. I didn't really set a summer to do list for each day, which is very different than during the semester. I like it this way. For now it's less stressful but I know I'll be freaking out come the end of July. (MCAT on July 29th).
At the beginning of each summer I promise myself that I'd go to the beach a few times each month and then I always end up going around 3 times over the whole summer. This summer seems to be going on the same trend. I don't drive so it's pretty hard for me to do anything :(. I just started studying outside on a towel in my backyard. It's like the beach except I can study for the MCAT without getting sand in my books. It seems to be working even if it takes me a bit longer to finish a chapter in the textbook. I stick to doing the passages inside where I can time them properly.  So now I'm tanner and smarter!
I'm 9 days into my first month of INSANITY and I think it is making me go insane. Today I did pure cardio  which I must say was a success. I think it was because I was in a great mood from tanning. It feels good to accomplish everything I wanted to do before dinner time. now it's time to clean a bit, shower and maybe do something fun tonight . . . . maybe.

Hello blog world!

Hey! This is my first attempt at a blogspot, I have a tumblr but I keep it super secret and truthfully I stopped using that one a while ago. This one will be different! I hope to use for a few reasons. My short term goal is to keep track of what I've been up to all summer (which sadly isn't much) and my long term goal is to keep this baby running for a while and maybe one day actually tell people I know that I have a blog. So for now I'll be talking about my summer, studying for the MCAT, med school apps, INSANITY, and probably some random arts & crafts stuff that I decide to do while I'm bored. I just want to note that I actually created this blog in March and never touched it but I'll try as hard as I can this time to post at least once a week.
